    Novel Approach to Respiratory Rate Measurement Using Resonance Tube with Contradictory Thresholding Technique

    In this paper, we propose a novel approach to respiratory rate measurement using resonance tube to enhance the performance of microphone inserted and fixed at the end of the tube to catch breath sound signal from the mouth and/or nose. The signal is amplified and passed into envelope detector circuit after which it is compared with a suitable reference voltage in comparator circuit to generate a pulse train of square wave synchronized with the respiratory cycle. A simple algorithm is developed in a small microcontroller to detect rising edges of each consecutive square wave to calculate respiratory rate together with analysis of breathing status. In order to evade noises which will cause errors and artifacts in the measuring system, the reference voltage is creatively designed to intelligently adapt itself to be low during expiration period and high during inspiration and pause period using the concept of resolving contradiction in the theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ). This makes the developed device simple and low-cost with no need for complicated filtering system. It can detect breath sound as far as 250 cm from the nose and can perform accurately as tested against End Tidal CO2 Capnography device. The result shows that the developed device can estimate precisely from as low as 0 BrPM to as high as 98 BrPM and it can detect shallow breathing as low as 10 mV of breath sound

    Innovative Capacity and the Performance of Businesses Incubated in University Incubator Units: Empirical Study from Universities in Thailand

    The purpose of this research is to study the factors related to the performance of the entrepreneurs who passed through the stages of business development at the university business incubators in Thailand. These factors consist of various characteristics, namely, leadership orientation, entrepreneurial orientation, network capacity, and innovative capacity. The sample group consisted of 220 businesses that had passed through a university business incubator in Thailand. The SPSS Statistics program calculated the basic statistics, as well as the relationship test for each factor studied, and examined the statistics using a structural equation model (SEM). The results revealed that the characteristics of leadership orientation, entrepreneurial orientation, network capacity, innovative capacity, and entrepreneurial performance had relationships in the same direction. Furthermore, an analysis of the relationships between the factors found that entrepreneurial orientation had positive relationships with network capacity and innovative capacity, leadership orientation had positive relationships with innovative capacity and entrepreneurial performance, and innovative capacity had a positive relationship with entrepreneurial performance. These relationships summarize a developmental model for the innovative capacity and performance of businesses that have passed through the university business incubators in Thailand

    Packet Warriors: An Academic Mobile Action Game for Promoting OSI Model Concepts to Learners

    This research aims to develop a game to teach the theoretical concepts of the OSI reference model to students who must learn data communication and networking as a compulsory or an elective subject. The survey was administered to most students at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University by a questionnaire to assess a suitable game for students of this generation. The result showed that action games are the most popular game for them. Then, a script of the OSI reference model was drawn based on the theoretical contents and the software design and implementation were performed. After finishing this development process, 19 third-year undergraduate students majoring in information sciences at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University tested this system. The evaluation process was performed using pretest and posttest data analyzed by a paired samples t-test at a 95% confidence level. The result of this study shows that the action game ‘Packet Warrior’ is an efficient tool to help students improve their learning capabilities via fun and good relationships with friends. </p

    Chibumons: A Positive Effect On Game to Undergraduate Students

    In the university daily life, social skill is very important. Social skill helps students to participated and interact with people. In this paper, we present the research and development of a mobile game to develop students’ social skill, 'Chibumons'. The sample group consists of 120 students. The tools used in this research were 'Chibumons', and satisfaction with the game questionnaire. Statistical data analysis used in this research were average, percentage, and standard deviation. The research reveals that games can enhance the social skill of students. This consequently accretes their social skill, boosting up enjoyment, engagement, and make friendships amongst playing. Moreover, this study demonstrates that ‘Chibumons’ is able to promote developing social skill and motivates students in higher education
